Business will allow you to develop a broad understanding of business organisations and provide you with the knowledge of the key business functional areas. The curriculum reflects the ever changing character of business and the rapid growth of new technologies.
Students are expected to have achieved at least a grade 5 in GCSE Business, if taken, or a similar subject.

Topics include: meeting customer needs, the markets, marketing mix and strategy, managing people, the role of the entrepreneur
Theme 2: Managing business activities
Topics include: raising finance, financial planning, managing finance, resource management, external influences
Theme 3: Business decisions and strategy
Topics include: business objective and strategy, business growth, decision making techniques, influences on business decisions, assessing competitiveness, managing change
Theme 4: Global business
Topics include: globalisation, global markets and business expansion, global markets, global industries and companies
Trips / Visits / Enrichment
Opportunities in the past have included business events organised by Virgin Money and talks from business owners and managers.
Throughout the course, students will be assessed through a variety of activities in class, homework activities and internal formal assessments during the course to practice exam technique. Students will sit three external exams at the end of the second year.
